Jamie Redknapp did not hold back in his assessment of Anton Stach. The Leeds midfielder’s display against Burnley, backed by his season-long output, shows the claim stands up to scrutiny.
Stach scored the opener in Leeds’ 3-1 win, setting the tone for a controlled and composed midfield performance. His goal reflected the technical quality highlighted after the match.
Stach’s performance against Burnley also showed his all-round impact, with 52 touches, 34 successful passes from 39 attempts, and two chances created. He added defensive work with three duels won, two tackles, and an interception.

Season output underlines consistency, not a one-off
His display at Burnley fits a wider pattern, as his season output shows five goals and three assists across the campaign. Those numbers are supported by 58 chances created and nine big chances created.
Stach has also won 136 duels this season, combining physical presence with creative responsibility. That balance is rare for a midfielder operating in his role.
Redknapp’s verdict aligns directly with the data
Redknapp told Sky Sports: “Leeds are playing like a side who know what’s at stake, and they have that extra quality as well, especially in Anton Stach. At £17m, he is for me one of the signings of the season.
“He has got two good feet, and we have seen the full repertoire tonight. “It was a really good goal from him. He has got a great left foot and right foot, and I have been really impressed with him this season.

“He takes a lot of great set-pieces as well, and recruitment is so important. He has got a great perception of what is around him; always checking his shoulder, which is so important as a midfield player.
“As he receives that ball, he knows exactly where he is; he takes it with his right foot and hits it with his left. It’s a great piece of midfield play and a quality moment in the game,” Redknapp continued on Stach.
Those points are reflected in the data, with his chance creation, passing accuracy, and composure under pressure all evident in the Burnley match.
The goal itself illustrated the two-footed control and awareness described. It is not the first time that Redknapp has praised Stach, who looks likely to win a place in Germany’s World Cup squad.

He's easily doubled his value this season!
Value turns strong performance into a clear argument
Leeds signed for around £18m, placing Stach firmly in a mid-range bracket for Premier League transfers. According to Stach himself, Daniel Farke is the reason behind his stunning first season at Elland Road.
Stach said after the win that securing three points was the priority, reflecting a focus that matches his consistent performances. His contribution continues to combine efficiency with impact.
Redknapp’s claim is not built on a single performance, and the data supports that conclusion. Stach’s consistency, output, and influence make the “signing of the season” label a fair assessment rather than an exaggeration.
