Leeds United return to Premier League action this weekend in what is already looking like a crucial game against Wolves.

It’s been a decent but concerning start to Premier League life for Leeds United, with four points on the board from four games but only a single goal scored, and even that was a penalty.

Last weekend’s late defeat to Fulham was particularly agonising, as Daniel Farke’s side put in a resolute defensive performance and had chances to win the game but lost to a 94th-minute Gabriel Gudmundsson own goal.

Leeds let a valuable point slip through their fingers, making this weekend’s clash with Wolves even more important.

Though it’s still very early days in the campaign, both teams are already locked in a relegation battle, with Wolves the only side in the division yet to pick up a point.

Failing to win will crank up the pressure on Farke already after he was backed by the 49ers this past summer.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Leeds United team news

The injuries are already mounting up for Leeds and they are likely to be without some key players for the trip to the Black Country.

Dan James was forced off the field just 10 minutes after coming on at Fulham, and is a major doubt for the match.

Goalkeeper Lucas Perri also remains sidelined, with Karl Darlow to continue in net in his absence, and Joel Piroe is still doubtful after missing the trip to London.

Wolves also have problems and are set to be without star striker Jorgen Strand Larsen in a massive blow.

Leon Chiwome is also ruled out, while Ki-Jana Hoever and Jose Sa are doubts.

Prediction

Leeds have proven they are capable defensively in the Premier League and can compete, but a real lack of cutting edge in attacking areas is already proving costly.

As a result, it’s easy to see the weekend’s massive game ending in equally massive disappointment.
