There is talk that Leeds United could look to bolster their attacking reserves with the signing of a Real Madrid striker ahead of the January window. He would be the fifth to play for both.

Robbie Evans claims Leeds have maxed out PSR and while Leeds can step into the red, they must be back in the black come June 30 next summer. Leeds have shown a willingness to step over the mark already.

The signing of Harry Wilson would have taken Leeds over the line, and yet Leeds still pursued a deal. It remains to be seen if Leeds could still be tempted to overstep the mark in the January transfer window.

But Leeds need to bring in attacking reinforcements in January to stand any chance of Premier League survival. The Whites have been linked with plenty of players, including Ireland hero Troy Parrott.

Leeds United look to raid Real Madrid for Gonzalo Garcia

One new name on the Leeds radar is Real Madrid’s young striker Gonzalo Garcia. The Mail claims Leeds remain interested having shown interest in the Spain U21 star back in the summer transfer window.

Garcia has struggled for minutes under Xabi Alonso this season, managing little over 100 for the senior side despite his form at the Club World Cup. In America, Garcia netted four goals in six games for Madrid.

Having been linked with the exit door at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer, Garcia is now expected to leave and pursue game time. He would become the fifth player to play for both Leeds and Real Madrid.

The first to do so was left-back Raul Bravo. A 14-time Spain international, Bravo joined Leeds for the second half of the 2002-03 season with the financial collapse emerging. He flopped, playing six times.

Jonathan Woodgate would go the other way, leaving Leeds for Newcastle before going to Real Madrid. Having starred at Leeds, Woodgate failed at Madrid with injury causing havoc. His debut was a nightmare.

After waiting a year to make it, Woodgate would score an own goal and be sent off, even though Madrid held on to a 2-1 win over Bilbao. Kiko Casilla was next, with Leeds signing the goalkeeper in January 2019.

But his involvement in Leeds’ defeat to Derby and an incident against Charlton saw him eventually axed for Illan Meslier. Diego Llorente, another Leeds flop, played three times for Real Madrid as a youngster.

A special mention to Rodrigo Moreno, who is currently impressing in Qatar with Al-Rayyan. A decent signing for Leeds, Rodrigo came through the Madrid academy but failed to ever play for the senior side.
