Jack Harrison remains on loan at Leeds United from Premier League leaders Manchester City, with an option in his loan deal to buy – a deal that Harrison has even commented on, stating that something is already in place. The Athletic have now claimed that the England Under-21 international will join Leeds permanently – and some Whites supporters have responed to the news.
Harrison, 24, has been excellent for Leeds this season. The former New York City man has gone off the boil in recent matches, being hooked at half-time against Arsenal and then Southampton on Tuesday night – with Helder Costa replacing him and impressing. The Portugal international scored against Arsenal, and laid on an assist for Stuart Dallas’ effort against the Saints. He also won the free-kick in which Raphinha scored.
It remains to be seen if Costa will start over Harrison on Saturday evening, with the Portugal international pretty much doing as much as he can in his substitute appearances. But clearly, Harrison remains a crucial part of the Leeds side – having a hand in 10 goals during his 24 Premier League outings. Harrison has netted six goals and laid on four assists, a number which should be a lot higher given the chances he has created.
Little surprise, then, that Leeds are keen to sanction a permanent deal. The Athletic report that Leeds are to sign Harrison with Manchester City ‘poised’ to sell the winger permanently, for a fee of £11million. It will finally see Harrison sign a long-term contract at Leeds, having clocked up 116 appearances despite being on loan for all of them.
Leeds fans have responded on Twitter to the news that the club are set to complete a permanent move for Harrison, with the player permanently signing on for just £11million. Many believe it is brilliant business.
