Leeds United remain silent on social media and on their website, but the belief is that Jaka Bijol will soon be announced as a new player at Elland Road – the club’s second summer signing.
Despite reports that Bijol had passed a medical last week, Leeds are still yet to confirm the signing of the defender. Bijol, 26, has put pen to paper on an £18.75m deal from Udinese to Elland Road this month.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed as much over the weekend, a move that will see Bijol become the second-most expensive Slovenian in his nation’s history. Only Benjamin Sesko has been transferred for more.
But it has been reported that Bijol will be given a four-year contract at Leeds. A deal that takes him to June 2029, which would see Bijol remain in Yorkshire until the defender enters his thirties.

New reports suggest different length of Jaka Bijol contract
Well, a report from Italian outlet Infogioco reports that actually, Bijol will be given a contract longer than just the four-year deal previously reported. It is now claimed that Bijol is joining on a five-year deal.
A contract that takes him to June 2030, far beyond any other Leeds player including fellow new signing Lukas Nmecha, who has signed a contract until June 2027. Leeds have no other player beyond June 2028.
Bijol then could actually be given a deal that exceeds any other Elland Road contract by a full two years. Either way, he will be given a long-term deal and nothing is confirmed until Leeds announce Bijol.

Leeds United’s current contracts that have two years or more left
Currently, Leeds have three players leaving in a week’s time – in Junior Firpo, Sam Byram and midfielder Josuha Guilavogui who is already confirmed as leaving. Then, seven players have a deal until June 2026.
That includes all three goalkeepers Illan Meslier, Karl Darlow and Alex Cairns, as well as attackers Patrick Bamford and Dan James. Returning loan duo Sam Greenwood and Darko Gyabi see their deals end soon.
In 2027, seven players – Brenden Aaronson, Pascal Struijk, Ethan Ampadu, Joel Piroe, Ilia Gruev, Max Wober and Joe Gelhardt. And then in 2028, nine more Leeds players including a returning Jack Harrison.
| Name | Contract Length |
| Joe Rodon | June 2028 |
| Ao Tanaka | June 2028 |
| Willy Gnonto | June 2028 |
| Largie Ramazani | June 2028 |
| Jayden Bogle | June 2028 |
| Mateo Joseph | June 2028 |
| Isaac Schmidt | June 2028 |
| Charlie Crew | June 2028 |
| Jaka Bijol* | June 2030* |
Bijol then, will have two more years on his contract according to the latest report, than any other Leeds player. Adam Underwood and The 49ers will surely be looking to agree new contracts with some players.
