Manchester City slap brand new price tag on James McAtee after Leeds United approach

Premier League experience is the order of the day for Leeds United when it comes to making signings this summer and one option has now decided he wants to leave, with Leeds interested.

The likes of Everton striker Beto, Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff and plenty of current top-flight goalkeepers are being linked with Leeds. The 49ers and Adam Underwood want that knowledge.

One area of the starting XI that does require improvement is the no.10 role. Brenden Aaronson was effective at times, but not on the whole, managing just 11 goals and assists, playing every league game.

Aaronson could now leave Leeds with the playmaker potentially concerned at his lack of game time with a home World Cup around the corner in 2026. Man City’s James McAtee is a potential replacement.

James McAtee changes stance on Manchester City future

Leeds are one of 12 clubs said to have approached Man City for McAtee, with the playmaker’s future in doubt. Indeed, McAtee has only managed three Premier League starts – coming on as a sub 12 times.

Now, TeamTalk deliver an update. McAtee has now decided he would like to leave Man City this summer and search for pastures new. His lack of game time under Pep Guardiola has convinced him to depart.

Indeed, it comes after City were disappointed with one of his three starts – against Southampton on the weekend. The Premier League giants are also said to be ‘open to offers’ for McAtee ahead of the summer.

Man City increase McAtee price tag to a whopping £35m fee

Initial reports of McAtee’s future this summer have touted the England U21 star for around £25m. A steep price given his lack of game time at City, for a player that Chris Wilder previously said is “outstanding”.

But now, the TeamTalk report states City value McAtee at a whopping £35m. Perhaps concerned that they could have another Cole Palmer situation on their hands – letting McAtee go, and he goes on to shine.

Clubs that are interested – including the likes of Tottenham and West Ham – feel they can reduce that figure closer to £30m in talks. Leeds will have to pay a near club-record fee then, to land McAtee.
