Leicester City are finding it difficult in their pursuit of Jack Harrison, but they are yet to give up on signing the Leeds United star, journalist Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport.
Harrison looks to be the first-team player within the Leeds squad attracting the most attention heading into the final 48 hours of the January transfer window. And it is the Foxes looking to secure his signature.
Harrison has not been at his best for much of this campaign. Nevertheless, it would be a huge shock if Leeds were prepared to let him go in this window, particularly to join another side so close to us in the Premier League table.
Leicester yet to give up on Harrison deal
What is interesting is that Leicester are seemingly yet to accept defeat in their pursuit of the 26-year-old. Jones has told Give Me Sport that they are finding it difficult to agree anything in their bid to land the winger.
However, it is slightly concerning that they are yet to throw in the towel. Jones added that Leicester have not yet given up on signing Harrison before the deadline.
Ultimately, there are only two conditions which would making selling Harrison acceptable – and neither look likely.
Firstly, Leicester need to make an outrageous offer. Not only is Harrison finding form again and potentially joining a relegation rival, but the window has hours remaining.
Secondly, Leeds must have a replacement lined up. And that replacement absolutely has to be a major upgrade on Harrison.
Given what the ‘unbelievable‘ winger did at the weekend – breaking the deadlock at Accrington Stanley with a stunning strike – finding that upgrade is going to be a huge task.
Hopefully, there is nothing to worry about. But there is no doubt that many fans will be breathing a sigh of relief once the window is closed.
