Leicester City set to sign ‘astonishing’ attacker after links with Leeds United earlier this summer

Leeds United remain in the hunt for new signings this summer but one player linked with a move to Elland Road now looks set to complete a loan move to newly-promoted Leicester City.

Following the sale of Crysencio Summerville and with less than three weeks left to run in the transfer window, The Whites are still in need of three signings in the form of a left-back, midfielder and a winger.

Failure to secure promotion forced The 49ers to sell big-name players like Summerville and Archie Gray to balance the books, before spending big. Only £15m has been spent on Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle.

But that is expected to change in the next couple of weeks with players like Hugo Bueno, Jonathan Rowe and Bashir Humphreys among the latest to be linked with a move to Daniel Farke’s side this month.

Leicester City now set to sign Adam Hlozek after Leeds links

Another player linked with Leeds this summer is Bayer Leverkusen’s Czech Republic striker Adam Hlozek. The forward impressed in glimpses for the Bundesliga champions last season, but was a fringe player.

Prior to Leeds’ defeat in the play-off final at Wembley, Leeds were linked with “astonishing” Hlozek. But so were Leicester with a fee of £10m touted and now, it seems promotion has been the deciding factor.

Indeed, Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Leicester are close to confirming the signing of Hlozek from Leverkusen. An initial loan deal that is expected to include an obligation to buy the striker.

Romano said: “Leicester City are in advanced talks to sign Adam Hložek from Bayer Leverkusen.

“Negotiations at final stages between clubs for loan with obligation to buy, Leicester want to get it done as club sources confirm. Talks still ongoing on player side before here-we-go,” Romano continued.

Hlozek only a realistic Leeds target if one or two left Leeds

There is an argument to be made for Leeds needing more depth in most positions on the pitch. But up front, Leeds are well-stocked after Mateo Joseph started against Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon.

Joel Piroe and Patrick Bamford both came on as Leeds searched for a winner against John Mousinho’s side, while Joe Gelhardt remains an unused sub and Georginio Rutter was deployed in the no.10 role.

Leeds have plenty of options up top and while Hlozek would have been a super signing, there is simply no need for the striker at Elland Road – unless one of the likes of Bamford or Gelhardt, or both, left.
