New names continue to be linked with a move to Leeds United on a daily basis as the club prepare for what is likely to be a hectic summer of big spending on high-calibre players.

As far as LeedsUnited.News can make out, the club have been linked with over 70 new signings since The Whites secured promotion back to the Premier League. A variety of signings in so many different ways.

Some possible club-record arrivals, some free transfers. Players all over the park, with plenty of Premier League drizzled on top. What has been surprising, is the lack of La Liga players linked with The Whites.

Leeds are no stranger to a signing from Spain but less so since Victor Orta’s departure. The club have since bought winger Largie Ramazani from Almeria and could now sign Christantus Uche from Getafe.

Leeds willing to activate Christantus Uche’s release clause

Bought for less than £1m from Spanish minnows AD Ceuta by Getafe just 12 months ago, Uche has starred in La Liga for Getafe this season and played a key role in them avoiding relegation in 13th.

That may sound comfortable for Getafe, but they were only two points above 18th-place, such was the relegation fight. Uche had a hand in 10 goals in 33 games, playing in midfield, up top and as a 10.

His form, as well as winning his first Nigeria cap on Saturday has not gone unnoticed by bigger clubs. Spanish outlet Super Deporte say Leeds and Brighton are willing to meet his £21m asking price.

What the Getafe manager said about “fabulous” Christantus Uche

Jose Bordalas was speaking about Uche following the club’s survival last month and ahead of his first Nigeria cap. The Spanish gaffer admitted it was a risk to sign him given his lack of top-tier experience.

But, he proved to be a diamond among the rough – describing him as “fabulous” as per Infobiwenger: “He’s a fabulous kid, we have a lot of affection for him. All players go through a process.

He reached professional football without going through any stages. It was difficult for him. We tried to help, he helped us. It was a risky gamble; there’s room for improvement, but he’s had a great season.”

Indeed, there is interest in Uche from Leeds, Brighton and other big-hitters around Europe. But the report states that Premier League clubs with the financial power to splash £21m are leading the race for Uche.
