The search for a new left-back will have to intensify at Leeds United over the next few weeks if Junior Firpo does leave Elland Road – and LeedsUnited.News have been informed about a possible signing.

Firpo is now ‘widely anticipated’ to leave Leeds at the end of the month, when his contract comes to an end. The retained list said Leeds were in talks with Firpo over a deal – but there has been no agreement.

AC Milan and Lyon are in talks to sign Firpo on a free transfer and it means Leeds need to sign a new left-back ahead of the club’s return to the Premier League. Plenty of left-backs have been linked with Leeds.

On Tuesday, Leeds had reportedly held talks to sign Alex Moreno from Aston Villa after his Nottingham Forest loan. Now, LeedsUnited.News can exclusively reveal the identity of another left-back on the list.

Leeds United target Rasmus Kristensen’s Frankfurt teammate

Over in Germany, Frankfurt enjoyed a stellar season. They finished in third place, qualifying for next term’s Champions League group stage. Rasmus Kristensen and Robin Koch will be Champions League players.

Kristensen and Koch played big roles. The latter captained his side and in doing so, won his place back in Germany’s squad. Kristensen had a hand in 10 goals and joined Frankfurt permanently, for a £7.7m fee.

But another key part of Frankfurt’s side is a target for Leeds. LeedsUnited.News have learned that Leeds have added Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown to their shortlist, after the 21-year-old starred last term.

Nathaniel Brown’s contract makes deal almost impossible

Described as “brilliant” by Dino Toppmoller, Brown has made the left flank his own for Frankfurt this term. Dovetailing superbly with Kristensen, Brown had a hand in 10 goals in just 33 appearances in 2024-25.

It is unclear how much Frankfurt would want for Brown but it is likely to be quite a lot, given his age and his immediate success in a Frankfurt shirt. But if Leeds need to replace Firpo, then Brown would be ideal.

However, Frankfurt have a contract with Brown until the summer of 2030. It makes him almost impossible to buy, and yet Leeds have an interest. Brown is competing at the U21 Euros this summer for Germany.
