Leeds are getting their ducks in a row ahead of the January transfer window, with several targets already identified.

Leeds are in talks to sign Troy Parrott from AZ Alkmaar after failing to land the Irishman during the summer transfer window – although it will now be a harder deal to do with the Dubliner on 18 goals in 18 games so far this term.

Leeds also want Raheem Sterling but face competition from Crystal Palace.

A creative midfielder is on the list for Leeds too – and Takvim now claim that a bid will be made for Gabriel Sara this winter.

Galatasaray expect Leeds United to bid for Gabriel Sara

The Turkish news outlet now state that Galatasaray are anticipating an offer from Leeds for the Brazilian in January, with Galatasaray valuing the versatile midfielder at a sum of €20m (£17m).

Like Parrott, Sara was a target for Leeds over the summer as well, but all parties failed to reach an agreement.

Which position do Leeds United need to strengthen most in January?

However, the arrival of Ilkay Gundogan in Istanbul is said to have put the South American “on the back burner” at Galatasaray according to Takvim, leaving the 26-year-old himself open to a departure.

The Galatasaray No.8 has a contract with the Super Lig outfit which runs until July 2029.

Gabriel Sara has previously inflicted damage on Daniel Farke and Leeds United

The man born in Joinville has previously excelled in the Championship, even scoring and assisting against Daniel Farke’s Leeds in the same game.

Sara stood out as Leeds secured a tight 3-2 win over Norwich back in October 2023, and went on to earn himself a spot in the Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season that term with 12 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances.

His move to Turkey has been a difficult one as things stand, netting only three goals in 61 appearances following a £20m switch in August 2024.

However, Sara has proven himself to be quite adept in English football, so a £17m move to Leeds this winter could prove to be a masterstroke.
