Beren Cross has revealed where Leeds United stand on selling Joe Gelhardt this summer amid interest from Hull City.

Gelhardt returns to Elland Road following a stellar spell on loan at Hull City, bagging 15 goals and six assists and helping them earn Premier League promotion.

However, the consensus is that there is no place for the striker in Daniel Farke‘s team, and with only a year left on his contract, Leeds United have a decision to make this summer.

What is a fair price for Joe Gelhardt? 💰

Reports say £3m…

Leeds United put Hull City on hold

Hull City, who also took Gelhardt on loan for the second half of the 2024-25 season, are keen to sign him on a permanent deal, as they prepare for life in the top flight.

There have also been suggestions that Leeds United would be willing to sanction the left-footer’s sale for £3million this summer.

However, the West Yorkshire outfit will see which other clubs are interested in Gelhardt before making a decision, according to Beren Cross.

Writing on The Athletic, the journalist noted that the Whites will also see how much clubs are willing to pay for the Englishman’s services.

With only a year left on the 24-year-old’s deal, Leeds are not best-placed to demand a significant sum for him, but this report indicates that they would not sanction a cut-price deal either.

It appears that the 49ers Enterprises-owned club are keen to initiate an auction for Gelhardt, as they look to get the best price they can.

Joe Gelhardt makes telling admission after fine start to life at Hull City😬

“I think it’s just happiness. I wanted to come back here since (the end of) last season… I’m just very happy at the minute.”

Leeds right to wait on Gelhardt transfer

There is no doubt that selling Gelhardt for £3m would be a bad piece of business by Leeds United.

With the likes of Rangers credited with an interest in the former Wigan Athletic frontman, the Whites are right to hold off on selling him to Hull City right away.

However, Gelhardt’s preference may have a huge role to play in this transfer.

The centre-forward would be happy to re-join the Tigers after enjoying a fruitful spell at the MKM Stadium, where the opportunity to play Premier League football beckons.
