Leeds United have agreed a deal to sign Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea and Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the deal, which is said to have set us back an initial £7m fee. Romano has shared what clauses are included.
Ampadu, a 43-time Wales star, is on his way to Elland Road as our first senior signing of the summer. Phil Hay says a deal is agreed, and that we will pay a figure of £7m for him, up front. The deal will also include further incentives.
Leeds have let Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen leave on loan. Meanwhile, Marc Roca has gone back to Spain with Real Betis. Ampadu comes in, a player that can play on the right of central defence, and midfield.
So, with a medical expected to happen sooner rather than later, Leeds have got their man – easing the increasing pressure on The 49ers to make some signings. Romano has shared what clauses Chelsea will include in a transfer.
It is good news for Leeds. Often, big clubs will include a buyback clause – allowing them to re-sign the player if they deem necessary, for a young player. But, Romano says Chelsea will not include that, but simply a sell-on fee clause.

It is a really smart signing for Leeds. A player with experience in the Premier League, Serie A and Bundesliga – at just 22, for a bargain fee of £7m. Furthermore, a player with 43 caps for his country, leadership qualities on the pitch.
Leeds could spend £7m a lot worse and adding Ampadu to the side significantly strengthens the Leeds team ahead of the 2023-24 season. A brilliant start, but only a start. Leeds must continue in this vain three or four more times.
