If Leeds United fans were told that the club were signing a Manchester City player this summer, many would have predicted it to be a return for midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
That could still be a possibility this summer with Phillips choosing to join Leeds. However, the midfielder was spotted at Patrick Bamford’s Kaiser Chiefs gig in a protective boot and it appears Phillips is injured.
The England man will be sidelined until August and it remains to be seen what will happen with Phillips. But it now appears Leeds might want to sign another Man City player in the coming days and weeks.
Indeed, Leeds are keen to bolster their options at centre-back even if Jaka Bijol is currently undergoing a medical at Elland Road. With Max Wober told he will be sold, another centre-back is required at Leeds.
Fabrizio Romano says Leeds target will leave Man City on loan
Juma Bah was bought by Man City in January for a £5m fee. It comes after the Sierra Leone teenager starred for Real Valladolid in the first half of the season. He was loaned immediately to French side Lens.
That saw him play under new Southampton manager Will Still. Now, reports say that Leeds are among the clubs interested in signing Bah – along with Still’s Southampton, German side Koln and Red Bull club Paris.
Fabrizio Romano has an update on Wednesday. The well-respected Italian journalist informed football fans that City have decided to let Bah leave on loan again, with Spanish side Girona among his suitors.
Romano wrote on X: “Juma Bah will leave Man City on loan this summer as the decision has already been made. Girona and more clubs are being assessed among options.”

Leeds have a solid connection with Pep Guardiola’s side. It was largely born out of the relationship that Marcelo Bielsa and Guardiola had, allowing Leeds and City to do a loan for Jack Harrison – three times.
Harrison then signed permanently from City, while Phillips obviously joined City from Leeds in 2022. In the opposite direction, Darko Gyabi joined Leeds from City for £5m. Nothing has happened since.
That could now change but reports state that City could well send Bah to the Championship and sign for Still at Southampton again. Not just because of a reunion, but because Bah will get more game time.
