Leeds United are at their busiest in the final few days of the transfer window with a move to sign Manor Solomon expected to go through today, but they also want to sign a new full-back.

It is now widely known that Leeds wanted four signings after Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter left the club for Premier League sides. Replacements for both, plus a midfielder and a full-back required.

Leeds have got a replacement for Summerville in the form of Largie Ramazani while Solomon is set to provide Daniel Farke with another body in attack following the exit of French star Rutter to Brighton.

Gustavo Hamer is targeted as a new midfielder at Elland Road with personal terms agreed, though The Whites have had a £13m bid rejected. At full-back, Leeds are looking at Max Aarons among others.

Graeme Bailey on Leeds’ chances of signing right-back Aarons

Last summer, Aarons almost joined Leeds only for Bournemouth to hijack a move to Elland Road at the last minute and lure him to The Vitality where Andoni Iraola also has Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra.

But after a tricky season that saw Aarons limited to 20 Premier League games due to injury, he has fallen down the pecking order. Graeme Bailey has told Leeds United News says Bournemouth will sell Aarons.

“Bournemouth are open to a deal for Max Aarons, but it won’t be cheap. There is very little chance Leeds get him. They will sell, they want good money. 20 games last year, so we are talking well over £15m.”

Leeds need a full-back, but Aarons seems very unlikely

Mostly because, Leeds are going to struggle to get a better left-back than Junior Firpo at Championship level and have just signed Jayden Bogle. To sign him and then replace him would just not make sense.

Leeds have other priorities this summer and to spend a fee north of £15m to land Aaronson would be foolish, not matter how good a signing Aarons would be. Leeds need a player willing to play cover.

It might see Leeds pursue a loan, or a player willing to provide back-up rather than replacing Bogle or Firpo. A player like Sam Byram who is currently the only cover in this Leeds side at the moment.
