Leeds United’s main focus will be securing promotion to the Premier League on the pitch but off of it, The Whites are preparing for Premier League football at Elland Road next season.
The Whites remain at the top of the Championship table after 35 matches. With 11 to go, The Whites are still eight points clear of Burnley in third, though that may reduce on Tuesday night with Burnley playing.
Leeds remain well-placed to go and secure automatic promotion to the Premier League, with West Brom by far the toughest Leeds will face between now and the end of the season, judging by league position.
So, planning will have started in terms of promotion to the Premier League and The Whites are expected to bring in a number of new signings. But in order to do so, room will need to be made in the squad.
Leeds United agree Rasmus Kristensen sale to Eintracht Frankfurt
The Denmark international is halfway through his second loan spell away from Leeds. He struggled with Roma last season but this time around, has been impressing alongside Robin Koch at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Reports this week said Frankfurt and Leeds have agreed an initial £5m fee that could increase to £6.5m with add-ons. A deal that will see Kristensen eventually leave Leeds three years after joining the club.
Leeds fans took to social media following the news that Kristensen is set to join Frankfurt permanently and many are delighted that the club have managed to bring in some cash for the right-back’s services.
Plenty responded to the news that the former Salzburg man will finally be wiped from the Leeds books. One fan reacted by saying he is “amazed” that Leeds are “getting that much” for Kristensen this summer.
Another said it is “fantastic news” that Kristensen will be sold. Another praised The 49ers and Nick Hammond by saying it is “unbelievable business”. Leeds will get a similar fee paid for Jayden Bogle.
There is a real belief that Leeds have done well to get as much cash for Kristensen as they will do, with one supporter saying Leeds have “had their pants down”. Another continued with “good news if true”.
Good that Kristensen is going but actually, it is a loss for Leeds
It’s not the first time that one of the eight players to use Victor Orta’s loan clause have been sold for a smaller fee than the figure paid for them. Diego Llorente is the worst example, sold for a bargain £2.5m.
His permanent move to Betis last summer came just four years after joining Leeds for a whopping £18m. Marc Roca, Luis Sinisterra and Robin Koch all used Orta’s loan clause and have been sold for a smaller fee.
Orta continues to haunt Leeds with the clause he inserted into contracts, even if it is almost two years since the Spaniard left the club. But at least, Leeds will manage to salvage some cash for Kristensen.
