Leeds recently suffered a significant blow in midfield after the 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa.
Sean Longstaff damaged his calf in training and is set to spend the next six weeks on the sidelines, leaving Daniel Farke with one less option in central midfield.
Now, however, the 49ers are planning to plug that gap with a move to sign Jens Hjerto-Dahl for Leeds.
Leeds United ‘chasing’ Jens Hjerto-Dahl along with Brighton and Bournemouth
Pete O’Rourke has now claimed that Leeds are keen on signing the 20-year-old Norwegian wonderkid.
Hjerto-Dahl is making headlines at Tromso for his fantastic displays, where he has already racked up 87 senior appearances despite only turning 20 in October.
O’Rourke adds that Leeds do – however – face competition from Brighton and Bournemouth, both of whom are fighting for European qualification in the Premier League, which could make this deal a difficult one for the 49ers to complete.
Who do you want Leeds to sign in January? A striker surely has to be the priority!
Hjerto-Dahl has netted five goals and provided six assists in 35 appearances so far this season, proving he can both score and create from central midfield.
The Tromso-born prodigy has a contract running until July 2027.
Leeds also like Chibuike Nwaiwu of Wolfsberger – another promising youngster.
Luis Pimenta has called Jens Hjerto-Dahl a “future leader” as Leeds United lurk
The Norway U21 international looks set to have a very bright future in the game.
Back in 2023 while still playing for the Norway U18 side, Hjerto-Dahl was called a “future leader” by his manager Luis Pimenta, who sounded very excited by the Norwegian’s potential.
Furthermore, a report from SCOUTED – who focus on wonderkids in football – even likened the Tromso No.6 to Sergio Busquets, calling him a “remarkably agile and undeniably technical” playmaker.
This is difficult: Who is Leeds United’s best signing so far? 🤑
Explain why!
Hjerto-Dahl certainly operates like the Spaniard, possessing clean technical skills and a fine eye for a pass, as well as a lanky 6ft 4in frame which helps him protect the ball from opponents.
Leeds need more in attack if they want to survive this Premier League season, but picking up a wonderkid like Hjerto-Dahl along the way would do no harm whatsoever.
