After Raheem Sterling and Tyrique George, Leeds United now linked to £39m Chelsea player as well

Leeds took three points from Chelsea at the start of December, and could now take some players from them as well.

Leeds are looking at Tyrique George as the England U21 international struggles for action under Enzo Maresca, while Raheem Sterling has been linked to Elland Road too as the Italian continues to banish the man born in Kingston.

Now – according to a new story from the Daily Mail – Axel Disasi could also end up at Leeds this winter.

Simon Jones has now published a detailed transfer report ahead of the winter window opening on New Year’s Day – which is packed with information.

Should Leeds sign a replacement for Joe Rodon or finally hand Sebastiaan Bornauw a chance? 🤔

One line states that Disasi ‘has been put forward’ to Leeds after Joe Rodon damaged his ankle ligaments at Sunderland, suggesting either Chelsea or intermediaries have offered the France international to the 49ers.

Like Sterling, the Frenchman has also been banished by Maresca, and the pair are yet to play a single second of senior football so far this season.

The Daily Mail also mention that Leeds like Danilho Doekhi – which was initially reported by Sky Sports on Tuesday.

Why Leeds United must ignore Axel Disasi and go all out to sign Danilho Doekhi

Hopefully, the 49ers have declined the chance to sign Disasi.

A deal would presumably be expensive considering Chelsea spent £38.8m to sign the central defender from Monaco back in July 2023 and placed him on a deal worth £80,000-a-week.

Even if Chelsea agree to terminate his contract, Leeds would still have to find a way to cover that salary, and also hope the 27-year-old is not carrying any rustiness after his spell on the sidelines.

Contrastingly, Doekhi earns £48,065-a-week and is playing regularly at Union Berlin, incredibly scoring six goals in just 18 games from the centre of defence.

The Dutchman also knows Brenden Aaronson and Pascal Struijk who can help him acclimatise, while Union Berlin use him on the right of a back three, which is where Rodon plays in the 3-5-2 formation.

Not only that, but Doekhi has six months remaining on his contract, so a deal should be relatively cheap for the 49ers.

With all of the above taken into consideration, it would be bizarre to sign Disasi ahead of the man born in Rotterdam.
