Daniel Farke has put Leeds in a fantastic position heading into the winter transfer window.
Targets might have been reluctant to move to Elland Road after the 3-2 loss at Manchester City, which signalled a fourth consecutive defeat for Leeds.
However, wins over Crystal Palace and Chelsea along with draws against Liverpool and Brentford have since helped Leeds rise six points above the relegation zone.
Now, a transfer target in Ruben Vargas has given the green light over a move to Yorkshire.
Ruben Vargas willing to join Leeds United as intermediaries discuss £8.7m deal
A story from TEAMtalk now states that the Switzerland international has given the green light to a move to England, as intermediaries work to find him a new club this winter.
Could Ruben Vargas be the missing piece in Leeds’ jigsaw? 🔥
He's been excellent in Spain…
It is said that Sevilla have made Vargas available as they aim to raise funds in the January window, with Leeds contacted by intermediaries to discuss a deal – along with Sunderland and Bournemouth.
TEAMtalk even claim that a deal could be done for as little as €10m (£8.7m) – a figure described as attractive for Leeds.
Vargas – who wants to play with Noah Okafor – has scored three goals and provided four assists across 12 appearances in La Liga so far this season.
Ruben Vargas ticks three vital boxes for Leeds United
January is a tough time to make immediately effective signings.
Usually, clubs don’t want to sell stars who are performing well on a weekly basis in the middle of a season, meaning those on the market are typically unwanted outcasts – like 2023 Leeds target Divock Origi, who is now a free agent.
Should Leeds SELL Joel Piroe and take Divock Origi on a free? 🤔
It would certainly help the PSR situation… 💰
Furthermore, the player may often be unwilling to uproot their entire life to move abroad during a season, or if they do, it can take time to settle in.
However, Vargas is beginning to look like he could well be the perfect January signing.
For one, the 27-year-old already has a friend at Leeds in Okafor, who should be able to help him settle down quickly.
Vargas himself is also keen on the move, so convincing him to join doesn’t look likely to be an issue.

Last but not least, that £8.7m price tag lessens the risk for Leeds, and makes the deal seem like a no-brainer in our eyes.
It feels almost too good to be true, so Leeds need to try and wrap this move up as quickly as possible before other clubs attempt to make progress in talks with intermediates.
