Leeds United can cross one player off their list of potential targets this summer.
The Whites have so far been slow in moving for incomings during the window, which has now been open for three weeks. Joe Rodon is the only signing at this stage.
However, that does not necessarily mean work isn’t going on behind-the-scenes and 49ers Enterprises have become renowned for keeping things very under wraps in their 12 months in charge.
While plenty of positions are in need of strengthening right away, much of Leeds’ incoming transfer business is going to depend on who leaves this summer.
One example of that is wingers. Leeds have been looking ‘extensively’ for options in that area, but are only likely to make a move if one or both of Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto depart.

Update provided on Leeds’ interest in Couhaib Driouech
Leeds have been linked with a handful of wingers this summer, but as mentioned, they won’t be moving unless they lose some.
Former Preston North End loanee Liam Millar is one player who has been strongly mentioned, with Leeds said to be watching him at the Copa America with Canada under Jesse Marsch.
FC Excelsior’s Couhaib Driouech is another reportedly on the list, with journalist Ben Jacobs having labelled him as ‘one to watch’ in the coming weeks.
However, according to a new report from Foot Mercato, Driouech will not be making the move to Elland Road this summer.
Leeds were always going to face stiff competition to win the race for Driouech with as many as 10 clubs said to be interested. PSV were one of them and now look to have won the race.
The Eredivisie champions have reached an agreement on a fee of around £3.5 million, with Driouech’s priority always having been on a move to PSV.
What is Leeds’ stance on Summerville and Gnonto?
Leeds do find themselves in somewhat of a tricky situation when it comes to signing wide players as there isn’t anyone in their current budget who could come in and displace either Summerville or Gnonto from the starting XI.
However, the fact of the matter is they are eventually going to receive bids for them and the longer it takes, the more targets like Driouech they will be missing out on.
At this stage, though, Leeds believe they are in a good position to keep them both after Archie Gray’s £40 million move to Tottenham.
Any deal for those two will be done on Leeds’ terms, and only if they make it clear they want to leave will offers be taken seriously. It will be interesting to see how it develops.
