West Ham could now help Daniel Farke land his number one Leeds United target as contract offered

Leeds have already been frustrated in the transfer market just three days into the winter window.

Leeds wanted to sign Taty Castellanos from Lazio – according to The Times and several Italian news outlets – although West Ham have just agreed a £25.3m deal for the Argentina international.

However, the east Londoners could actually end up inadvertently helping Leeds bring Harry Wilson to Elland Road amid uncertain situations involving Adama Traore and Raheem Sterling.

The Times added in the story about Castellanos that West Ham have also made an approach to sign Traore from Fulham, and have offered the Spain international a contract.

It is also said that Raheem Sterling wants to join Fulham instead of West Ham, which is where Leeds come into the situation.

Which striker would you like at Leeds the most? 🤑

Should the England international end up moving to Craven Cottage, it might open the door to Fulham selling Wilson – given the fact Marco Silva would have a replacement in the attacking department.

The Daily Mail believe the Wales international is the priority target for Leeds this winter after the 49ers failed to get a deal over the line on deadline day in September.

Some might question why Fulham would willingly cash in on a star man due to the potential arrival of Sterling, but his contract situation leaves the Cottagers in a difficult spot.

Wilson is yet to commit to a new deal as he approaches free agency in July, and considering he is a £20m talent, Fulham would take a severe financial hit if they ended up losing the 28-year-old for nothing.

It makes us believe a sale to Leeds is possible if Fulham manage to sign a direct replacement in Sterling, and The Times crucially mention that the Chelsea outcast has a better chance of moving to Craven Cottage if West Ham are able to sign Traore.

So, despite the Hammers desperately trying to drag Leeds back into the relegation dogfight, they might actually end up sending Wilson to Elland Road by pursuing Traore.

What Harry Wilson last said about a potential Fulham exit opens the door to Leeds United

The Fulham No.8 spoke towards the end of December about potentially leaving west London in January, and surprisingly sounded quite open to a departure.

Would you sign Harry Wilson next summer, when his contract ends? 🪄

He's still out of contract.

Wilson opened the door to a move, telling Sky Sports: “Not a lot really (in terms of a contract update).

“I’m fully focused on playing. I play football because I love the game, and wherever I am, it’s got to be somewhere where I’m going to play. That’s what I love doing. If we get to the World Cup, I want to be in the best shape. What’s going to put me in the best position is somewhere where I’m playing, getting the minutes, playing well.

“Hopefully scoring and assisting, I’ve been able to do that the last couple of months. Whatever happens after that happens. This next contract has got to be right for me and my family. We’ll see what happens.”

It is not exactly a transfer request from Wilson, but it’s also hardly much of a show of commitment to Fulham either.

Therefore, Leeds have every chance of making amends for their failure to sign the Wales international on deadline day in September with a successful swoop this month, if West Ham land Traore that is.
