Three Premier League strikers Leeds United should look at in January including a future ‘superstar’

Daniel Farke’s inability to decide on his first choice striker this season makes it a position Leeds United should look to address in January.

With Leeds in an automatic promotion battle that looks set to go down to the wire once again, next month’s transfer window is something that should be taken seriously to help push on in the second half of the campaign.

Farke says Leeds’ January will be quiet but there is no excuse for a repeat of last season when Connor Roberts was the only addition, which saw the Whites run out of steam towards the end.

Striker is clearly a position which could do with upgrading as neither Joel Piroe or Mateo Joseph have made that spot their own so far.

With that in mind, here is a look at three Premier League strikers Leeds should try and sign on loan.

Evan Ferguson – Brighton

This may sound optimistic considering Micah Richards hailed him as a future ‘superstar‘ only last season, but according to the Daily Telegraph, Evan Ferguson is available for loan.

Ferguson is likely to attract Premier League interest after this news but Brighton still view him as huge to their long-term plans and so a permanent deal looks off the table.

If there is some willingness from both Ferguson and Brighton to drop down a level for regular minutes then Leeds absolutely have to be all over it.

He would immediately come in and be the Championship’s best striker, and providing he can stay fit, is likely to score a hatful of goals that could get Leeds over the line.

Marc Guiu – Chelsea

Having joined Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer, Marc Guiu has been a victim of Enzo Maresca’s incredibly bloated squad, meaning minutes have been at a premium.

However, Guiu is a product of the famous La Masia academy and even managed to score twice in just seven appearances for Barcelona’s first team last season.

The 18-year-old has played most of his minutes in the Conference League for Chelsea this season but even then, half of his appearances have been from the bench.

If Chelsea decide they are happy for him to go out and play regularly, Leeds should take a look considering he would be an upgrade on what Farke currently has.

Danny Ings – West Ham

At the opposite end of his career to Guiu is West Ham’s Danny Ings, but he represents an equally as interesting option.

Leeds were keen on Ings in the summer but West Ham opted to keep him and he has been used fairly regularly this season, though mostly as a substitute.

However, with summer signing Niclas Füllkrug back to full fitness that is likely to push Ings down to third in the pecking order.

Ings has been a guarantee of goals almost everywhere he has been in his career and at Championship level, he would score a hatful.
