After a lot of deadline day drama – much of which we weren’t aware of until after the window had closed – Jack Harrison ended up staying at Leeds United rather than joining Leicester City.

Harrison was linked with a move to the King Power Stadium throughout the final day of the January transfer window. However, it appeared that the speculation had gone fairly quiet as the hours ticked by. With that, most Leeds fans probably felt that it was safe to head to bed rather than wait for the window to shut.

But then, The Athletic dropped a shocking report on just what went on before the deadline.

Leeds were reportedly ready to sell Harrison to Leicester for just £20 million

According to their report, Harrison was at Leicester’s training ground on Tuesday. And he went on to start a medical in preparation for Leeds agreeing a deal with the Foxes.

Ultimately, Leeds pulled the plug on any move and Harrison is staying put. But it is probably fair to say that the report did not reflect well on the Whites.

Certainly, a lot of fans on social media felt sorry for Harrison. The Athletic reported that the 26-year-old was not pushing for a move away. So you would imagine that he would have been very content had Leeds quickly shut the door on the idea of him leaving.

However, Leeds seemingly left that door open. So of course, Harrison would be inclined to leave his options as the deadline loomed.

And a further report from The Telegraph arguably makes Leeds’ decision-making on that final day look even worse.

Winger deserved better

Reports from the Daily Mail claimed that Leeds rejected a £20 million bid for Harrison. But The Telegraph are now suggesting that the deal was agreed between Leicester and Leeds. And the fee involved was just £20 million.

Harrison has not been in outstanding form for a lot of this season. And his contract is currently set to expire at the end of next season. Nevertheless, there is absolutely no way that Leeds should have been prepared to let him go for £20 million – particularly on deadline day.

Thankfully, Leeds seemingly came to their senses and decided to keep Harrison.

But if that is true that a £20 million fee was agreed before a U-turn, it is surely fair to say that Harrison absolutely deserved better.
