Leeds United really wanted him, now he could be the man that gets Daniel Farke’s side relegated

The Premier League’s race for survival is becoming clearer and clearer every week. Leeds United are certainly one of the sides that will be down the bottom, looking to avoid the drop.

As things stand, despite a spirited display against Arsenal, it looks as if Wolves will be relegated. To have won just two points after 16 Premier League games is something almost impossible to recover from.

So, the remaining clubs fighting for survival must avoid 18th and 19th place. Burnley lost again on the weekend, remaining in 19th with 10 points from 16. West Ham are in a better position, 18th with 13.

Leeds United still want him, but can they sign Harry Wilson in January? 🤞

Leeds wanted Wilson in Jan.

“They [Leeds] would remain keen again in January as they look to strengthen their squad for a battle against relegation, but a move [for Wilson] is currently deemed unlikely.”

Leeds and Forest sit in 16th and 17th on 15 points. There is a slight gap, with Brentford, Bournemouth, and Fulham above the Whites. Fulham have leaped from 15th place to 13th, with a 3-2 win over Burnley.

Harry Wilson was the main man for Marco Silva’s side again, less than four months after Leeds came close to landing the Wales star on the final day of the summer window. Wilson was keen on a move to Leeds.

Harry Wilson’s Fulham form will have Leeds feeling full of regret

This season, Wilson has eight goals and assists in 15 Premier League games, but it is the last couple of weeks that have seen the former Liverpool star take his reputation and stock to a whole new level.

Three goals and three assists in his last four Premier League games. A goal and two assists in the 3-2 win over Burnley. Leeds pushed hard to get Wilson, and there is still a world where a deal could still happen.

But his form will have Leeds feeling hard done by, frustrated and gutted. Especially, given they had picked the right man to sign and had got a deal close, only for Fulham to block Wilson’s move at the last minute.

Which position do Leeds United need to strengthen most in January?

Explain why!

Wilson could be the difference in battle against relegation

Bournemouth might be down there, but the Cherries are expected to escape the battle for the drop. Forest are also likely to get it together under Sean Dyche, and finally push themselves up the table.

Fulham, Brentford, Leeds and West Ham seem the most-likely contenders to finish in either 18th or 19th come the end of the season. Before the weekend’s fixtures began, Opta gave Leeds a chance of 42%.

If Bournemouth and Forest do escape the clutches of relegation and climb the table as expected, then it is two of four to join Wolves and of those four sides, right now, Wilson is easily the player in the best form.

There is a very real chance that having missed out on him, Leeds could be sent packing and back to the Championship next May simply by a Fulham side inspired by Wilson, having failed to land his signature.
