Leeds United have been given the nudge they need to pursue their second signing of the summer with Lewis O’Brien missing out on helping Huddersfield Town to promotion.
Leeds are reportedly ready to make a fresh bid for O’Brien. The Sun reported on Sunday that he has a release clause of just £10 million. But much depended on how Carlos Corberan’s side fared at Wembley against Nottingham Forest.

Ultimately, it was a sickener for the Terriers. Two very questionable penalty decisions cost Huddersfield as they were beaten 1-0 by Forest.
With that, Huddersfield’s hopes of agreeing a new contract with O’Brien have been dealt a massive blow. And it would be no surprise to see a number of teams now step up their interest in the 23-year-old.

Leeds will seemingly be in the mix. But the Whites need to make sure that there is hardly an opportunity for another side to make their move.
Leeds need to pick up the phone immediately and get Lewis O’Brien deal done
We need more quality and depth in midfield. O’Brien is not proven in the Premier League by any means, but he was the best player on the pitch at Wembley. And at £10 million, there is scope for a deal to be an absolute bargain.
Leeds fans have been talking about O’Brien for the last 12 months. His arrival last year would have certainly made a difference given the problems the Whites had throughout the year.
It may not be a game-changing signing for Leeds. But O’Brien has energy in abundance. And the quality he has provided has made him the standout player in a Huddersfield side that came so close to promotion.
It could easily prove to be inspired.
Leeds need to be on the phone immediately and attempt to get a deal across the line.
