Leeds United could lose one of their key players in this month’s transfer window.

Leeds United are once again facing a make or break January transfer window as they vie for promotion to the Premier League, this time under Daniel Farke.

The Whites currently sit in 4th place of the Championship table after back-to-back defeats left them with a six-point gap to Southampton in 3rd, and a nine-point gap to Ipswich Town in 2nd.

And to make matters worse, attacker Crysencio Summerville is being linked with a move away, with Brighton now closely linked as we enter into the January transfer window.

With that in mind, here are three Summerville replacements Leeds United must consider this month…

Fabio Carvalho

The Liverpool man has recently returned to Anfield after an unsuccessful loan spell with Red Bull Leipzig saw him feature eight times in the Bundesliga, failing to register a single goal contribution.

The 21-year-old arrived at Liverpool from Fulham ahead of last season following a hugely impressive breakthrough campaign in the Championship with Fulham.

The Portuguese attacker netted 10 goal and assisted a further eight as Londoners earned promotion, and with Liverpool tipped to send him out on loan again this month, Elland Road could well be the perfect destination.

The likes of Leicester City and Southampton are among the early teams being linked.

On the books at Fulham, England U21 man Stansfield is currently on loan at Birmingham City where his future appears uncertain following the club’s dip in form under Wayne Rooney.

The 21-year-old has been one of Blues’ saving graces this season with seven goals and two assists in 22 Championship outings, and there’s growing reports that he could be on the move this month with the likes of Ipswich Town linked.

Former Birmingham City boss John Eustace hailed Stansfield’s ability to play in multiple attacking roles, saying that he ‘can play anywhere’ and that could make him ideal Summerville replacement for this fluid Leeds United attacking line.

Sammie Szmodics

The Blackburn Rovers man currently leads the Championship scoring charts with 15 goals to his name in the league this season, already matching his previous best scoring record in the 2020/21 campaign with Peterborough United in League One.

He’s recreated himself as a no.9 this season having previously been a wide player, so that kind of versatility could make him an ideal replacement for Summerville.

And at 28 years old, he’s in his prime years, so bringing in Szmodics could well be a shrewd move for Leeds United in their quest for promotion and no doubt for Szmodics whose Blackburn side have dropped down into 15th in recent weeks.
