Ben Parker has told LS11 that he cannot understand why Leeds United defender Joe Rodon was sent off on Wednesday against Hull City – as the Wales man was shown two yellow cards during the 0-0 draw.
Rodon, 25, started his fifth Championship game in a row for Leeds on Wednesday night. The Wales ace was sporting stitches on his eyebrow, and two black eyes after a facial injury against Millwall on Sunday.
The £15m Tottenham signing got a yellow for a foul on Jaden Philogene, but replays suggested it was harsh. The second yellow, no doubt – he got there second. Hull were away. Harsh, given his first yellow.
It saw Leeds have to play the remaining 30 minutes with 10 men – and thanks to an incredible miss from Hull’s no.10 Adama Traore, Illan Meslier held on to a third consecutive clean sheet. Parker gave his take.
“Second yellow, can’t really complain too much. It goes back to the first one. We saw it live, couldn’t really make it out but you see it back and think, Wow,” Ex-Leeds defender Parker said on Thursday.
“He has a been a massive player for us, he’s been superb, he does the basics well – defends the box, wins his headers. He reads the game really well,” Parker continued, during this morning’s LS11 episode.
Parker cannot understand why Leeds man Rodon was sent off
It is a blow. Rodon has been central to Leeds keeping three clean sheets in a row, even on Wednesday – before his red card, Hull had absolutely nothing going forward. Leeds should have been one or two up.
One positive, is that Liam Cooper came off the bench following Rodon’s red card and the Scotland star is now fit again to play. It is likely he comes in on Saturday – or, Charlie Cresswell starts against Watford.
