‘Worst of the lot’… Leeds United fans demand improvements from ‘really poor’ player after Millwall display

Leeds United fans have been left dismayed at the team’s performance as they crashed out of the FA Cup vs Millwall but one player has come in for particularly heavy criticism.

After such a great week of results in the Championship, Leeds United suffered the bitter blow of elimination from the FA Cup on Saturday.

Daniel Farke made 10 changes to his starting XI, with it being clear where priorities lie, and none of the players that came in will be pushing for a place in the league team any time soon.

The Whites were understandably disjointed and a stronger Millwall side took advantage, with Femi Azeez scoring in either half for the 2-0 victory.

Ethan Ampadu and Mateo Joseph were amongst the worst performers but it was a very bad afternoon for Josuha Guilavogui, who did not impress Leeds fans at all.

Josua Guilavogui terrible in rare Leeds start vs Millwall

The game was just Guilavogui’s second start since signing for Leeds in October as a free agent and his first in his natural midfield position.

It’s unlikely he will be getting any more for the rest of his stay at Elland Road, though, after a costly performance.

The veteran midfielder had a hand to play in both goals as he turned his back on a shot that deflected off of him and into the goal for the opener and was then dispossessed as Millwall got a second.

Guilavogui was ponderous on the ball throughout his 68 minutes on the field and he shouldn’t have lasted that long as he should have been sent off for a late lunge on the ankle of Casper De Norre in the first half.

Leeds fans were not left impressed, with one writing: “Guilavogui is really poor, he looked poor against Harrogate too.”

“Josuha Guilavogui, never again bro,” another posted on X and those thoughts were echoed by a fellow supporter: “Guilavogui should have been sent off, don’t care if some other Leeds fans don’t agree. He was very poor today.”

A big week coming for Leeds United

Though such an early exit from the FA Cup is never good, especially with the manner of this exit, it’s hard to imagine many at Leeds will care too much once today is done with.

The fact that Farke didn’t make any changes to his struggling team until the 68th minute just shows he wasn’t too bothered about having fewer fixtures to worry about.

As sad as it is, with the FA Cup out of the way, Leeds can now focus fully on the Championship title race and ensure they return to the Premier League.

A big period is coming up, too, with a trip to Watford on Tuesday before back-to-back fixtures against Sunderland and Sheffield United. There are much bigger fish to fry.
