EAFC 26 comes out in 16 days’ time, with Leeds United’s ratings revealed in recent days — including some surprise stats reveals.

Promotion and many new signings means that Leeds United are a much stronger side than in last season’s version of the game, but still one of the Premier League’s weakest teams.

It is the third installment in the EA Sports FC series following EA FC 24 and EA FC 25, and it follows on from the ‘FIFA’ franchise which spanned 30 years with EA Sports.

Willy Gnonto is now in his fourth season as a Leeds player and he has had ratings of 69, 74, and 74 since joining the Whites from FC Zurich back in the summer of 2022.

Willy Gnonto’s verdict on his FC26 stats

With Jermain Defoe believing Gnonto is a match-winner, he will be vital from either the left or right flank this season. Gnonto has more guile and X-factor than most players in the squad.

Gnonto also won the Young Player of the Season award for his efforts last year, scoring nine and assisting six in the process. It puts into perspective that some of his stats are harsh.

Gnonto has reacted to his stats for Leeds, with frustration towards the game developers for one particular statistic on his Ultimate Team card.

He said: “This is disgraceful to me. Bro, 31 defence is crazy to me.

“I run back, I press. You know, I won a lot of balls — but it’s fine.

“I’ll show you guys this year, you know?

“Guys, it was a pleasure. Next year, we’re gonna be back and better.”

Gnonto chose to join Leeds earlier than planned, as opposed to Mateo Joseph, and his progress and development will be very interesting to see after two years of learning in the second tier.

His gripes over defensive stats are fair, with only 22 players in the league currently having more tackles and interceptions so far than Gnonto (FBref).

Gnonto’s view on Leeds in the Premier League

Despite being just 21 years of age, there are only four players in the current Leeds dressing room with more appearances for the club than Gnonto. He spoke to The Athletic earlier in the summer and explained how the last few years have shaped him.

He said: “Now I feel like I enjoy it more. I’m a better man. I’m a bit more experienced and I really needed it.

“I always thought I could make an impact in the Premier League. Maybe I was a bit young and I didn’t really understand what was going on, but at that point, I felt like I could play there, and I proved to myself I could do it.

“It’s nice to be back. I probably have something else to prove because I want to prove myself again, that I can be there. I know I can be there and I want to show everyone. It’s going to be fun.

“It’s way different from the Championship. In most games, we had the ball for the whole time and were playing against low blocks. It’s a bit difficult, but in the Prem, you have more space for teams like ours.

“We are going to try to exploit them and use them. For me, it’s going to be fun — one-v-ones, and then it’s going to be up to me to make things happen and change the game.”
