Helder Costa’s recent form have seen suggestions of a summer exit from Leeds United evaporate, somewhat. Impressive cameo roles against Arsenal, Wolves and Southampton saw him earn a start against Aston Villa on Saturday – but the Portugal international failed to prevent his side from losing 1-0. However, it has become imperative that Leeds keep him.

Phil Hay told his podcast on The Athletic at the start of February that duo Helder Costa and Tyler Roberts could be ‘vulnerable’ – but both started against Aston Villa following excellent recent form. Suggestions that the ex-Wolves and Monaco man might leave in the summer have quietened for the time being – but a new report means he has got to stay at Elland Road.

The Mirror claims Raphinha – our star man at the moment – is being linked with a move to Liverpool. However, to the delight of Leeds fans, Raphinha remains happy at Elland Road having only joined the club from Rennes last summer – and the report states that befriending Costa has helped with Raphinha remaining happy and not becoming dissatisfied in Yorkshire.

Raphinha has been in stunning form. In his 21 Premier League games, he has had a hand in 10 goals – scoring five and creating five more for the Whites following his move to Elland Road. He has caught the eye of fans from other clubs and pundits alike, not just because of his goals but because of his flair, skill and speed – Gary Cahill is still having nightmares.

So, Raphinha is happy at Leeds – with Costa helping him stay happy at Elland Road, as has Patrick Bamford who is speaking to the winger in French. Keeping Costa, then supposedly helps in keeping Raphinha.
