Leeds United and Cardiff City are two sides under pressure heading into their upcoming clash in South Wales.
Leeds‘ defeat to Burnley on Saturday has turned their solid start into an average one and defeat against the Bluebirds would leave Daniel Farke under serious pressure from the fans, perhaps more so than the board.
Farke has been criticised for the manner of Leeds’ defeat at the weekend as unfortunately, it was a script that has been seen a number of times before during his tenure.
However, despite the frustration of the defeat at Elland Road, they next face a side where things are currently considerably worse.
Cardiff currently sit bottom of the table with just one point from their opening five matches, though their poor start only increases the pressure on Leeds to come away with a positive result.
What Cardiff players are doing ahead of Leeds
Having come close to relegation in 2022/23, Cardiff enjoyed a solid mid-table finish last season, in what was their first year under manager Erol Bulut.
As such, Bulut was handed a new two-year-deal in the summer as a show of faith in what he had been building, but things could not have gone much worse at the start of his second campaign.
Cardiff’s 1-0 defeat at Derby County on Saturday has seen pressure seriously mount on Bulut’s future already, with talkSPORT reporting his job is under serious threat.
It’s not just the results which are currently against Bulut, either, but actually the players themselves. As per that same report, the mood in the dressing room is said to be very negative at the moment.
In fact, senior players are even said to be going as far as questioning Bulut’s training methods. Usually that sort of thing leads to only one outcome.
Cardiff have made Bulut decision ahead of Leeds
As mentioned, there have been a number of reports suggesting Bulut could be sacked even before Cardiff face Leeds.
However, according to the Wales Online, a decision is not imminent yet and Bulut is likely to be in charge against Leeds, though another defeat could prove to be the end.
If Bulut does remain in charge, Leeds simply could not have asked for a better time to play Cardiff than Saturday, and they simply have to make that count.
An early goal for Leeds could seriously turn the home crowd against their side, and that would be music to the ears of Farke’s side.
