Everton have been deducted 10 Premier League points after they were found guilty of breaching Financial Fairplay rules, and Ben Jacobs says Leeds must now decide if they will launch legal action.

It comes after Leeds and Burnley wrote to the Premier League to enquire as to whether Everton had breached FFP rules, after a recorded loss of £371.8m over the last three years, as per The Guardian.

The Premier League confirmed in a statement, Everton had been deducted 10 points. The investigation found a loss of £124.5m for the period in question, with clubs only allowed to lose a total of £105m.

It means Everton’s breach occurred in a season where Leeds were relegated. Leeds – and Leicester and Burnley – had written to Everton’s prospective new owners, warning legal action if given a guilty verdict.

Now, a 10-point deduction has been implemented. Everton are set to appeal the decision, and Jacobs has claimed on Twitter that Leeds, along with numerous other clubs, must decide on taking legal action.

Jacobs claims that Burnley and Leicester, who finished in 18th place in 2021-22 and 2022-23, could take collective action for up to £300m. Leeds finished in 19th place last season, behind Leicester.

It is unclear how much Leeds may claim back, but surely, it is worth doing given Everton played a part in our relegation last season. Leeds will have missed out on a serious amount of cash, due to relegation.

Surely, with Everton now being found guilty of wrongdoing, Leeds are well within their rights to pursue legal action against The Merseyside club. Certainly, it is worth doing in the event Leeds win damages.
