Weston McKennie starred in Leeds United’s 4-2 win over Wolves on Saturday afternoon and spent his Sunday by jetting off to Italy to watch parent club Juventus beat Inter Milan 1-0 – with Juventus posting a video on Twitter.
McKennie, 24, was pivotal in the middle of the park as the Leeds midfield dominated the likes of Ruben Neves, Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes. Jack Harrison, Luke Ayling, Rasmus Kristensen and Rodrigo scored as Leeds won.
A sixth League win of the season, and a second in four League games managed by Javi Gracia. Leeds look better tactically – there is more of a balance. McKennie’s ability to both defend and attack certainly helped us on Saturday.
In what was his ninth outing for Leeds since joining on loan from Juve, the USA star was superb. In defence, three interceptions, a block and a clearance. In attack, two shots and he completed 19 of 24 passes. A bit of everything.
Now, McKennie has jetted off to represent USA in fixtures against Grenada and El Salvador on March 25 and 28th. But before linking up with the USA squad, he returned to parent club Juventus to watch the 1-0 win over Inter.

Clearly, McKennie has a good relationship with the Juventus players, still. His particular handshake with Angel Di Maria, or his embrace with Leonardo Bonucci is proof of that. Whether he returns to Juventus remains to be seen.
A big part of it will be whether Leeds remain in the Premier League. If McKennie plays the way he did at Wolves, then Leeds have a real chance of survival. If Gracia continues the way he has started, we will remain in the top tier.
But even then, it is up for debate. Will Leeds want to spend the necessary funds it required to land McKennie on a permanent basis? When signed, it was expected that would happen. Jesse Marsch’s sacking has added doubt.
