It comes as no surprise that Leeds United’s problem area is at left-back and come January, Daniel Farke will be keen to bring in a new left-back – West Ham’s Aaron Cresswell could be available.
Sam Byram and Junior Firpo have picked up injuries in recent weeks. Djed Spence has been deputising on the wrong side, with Jamie Shackleton also featuring on the left flank – again, picking up an injury.
Those injury issues have seen Farke tell media that he knew he needed a left-back in January, even before Firpo and Byram suffered new knocks. It is likely Leeds look at the Premier League for signings.
Tottenham is off the radar, with two players already on loan from the North London club. But staying in the capital, West Ham’s Cresswell is available. Paul Brown told Give Me Sport he could leave West Ham.
“I don’t think he’s particularly pushing to get out, but he will want to be playing for a team that can give him regular minutes. If he’s not getting that by January, may be best for all parties if he makes a move.”

Cresswell is now 34, but he remains a Premier League-standard left-back. Something Leeds have been lacking, other than a recognised left-back this season, is quality from set-pieces. Assists and goals.
Leeds have had to score the near-perfect goal, having to break down low blocks. Daniel Farke needs a player that can go and score the odd goal, or supply the cross from a set-piece to score a different way.
Cresswell can do that. He’s played just 250 minutes of football spread across only five outings this term and if a club comes in for him, you imagine he might be allowed to go. His contract ends in June 2024.
