Leeds United were linked with a move to sign Luzern captain Ardon Jashari around 12 months ago but he remained with the Swiss side – and now, West Ham United are in talks to land the midfielder.

The two-time Swiss star has enjoyed a brilliant couple of years since breaking into Luzern’s senior side from the academy, winning the club’s captaincy and clocking up 83 games – having a hand in 16 goals.

Such form saw Leeds look at a move, ahead of January 2022. A report said that Leeds, Celtic, Napoli, Leipzig and Frankfurt were all keen on Jashari, who was a part of Switzerland’s 2022 World Cup squad.

But the midfielder has remained at Luzern where he has continued to gain regular first-team football and impress in his home country. That is despite his price tag a year ago being between £5.3m and £6.2m.

Swiss outlet Solothurner Zeitung claim Jashari is attracting attention once again. Three clubs are said to be in talks to sign him – including Premier League side West Ham. Freiburg and Villarreal are, as well.

Leeds linked with Ardon Jashari in 2022: Now West Ham in talks

The Hammers do have options in the middle of the park, but having sold Declan Rice, they still need to sign bring in quality to replace the in-form Arsenal midfielder. Jashari presents a bargain, future talent.

He needs game time, wherever he goes. He’d get some at West Ham, but he wouldn’t be starting for the Hammers. You would argue that he’s struggle to start at Leeds initially, too. One to keep an eye on.

Leeds are well-stocked in midfield – Ethan Ampadu, Glen Kamara, Archie Gray, Ilia Gruev. Some have even suggested that Leeds have a better midfield this season, than last. But, Jashari is certainly a talent.
