Georginio Rutter says he is really enjoying playing alongside Joel Piroe at Leeds United.

Rutter was speaking to LUTV after Leeds’ 3-0 win at Millwall on Sunday in what was arguably his best performance in a white shirt since his January arrival.

The 21-year-old provided a goal and assist at the Den, with his first time lay-off for Piroe to net Leeds‘ opener having got the scoring underway.

Rutter then played a key part in Piroe’s second goal before rounding off the win himself with an emphatic finish into the top of the net.

Since Piroe’s £10.5 million arrival from Swansea City, the two players have started all three matches alongside one another in attack.

Aside from the difficulties against Sheffield Wednesday, it has shown the signs of a blossoming attacking partnership which Rutter says he is really enjoying being apart of.

He said: “Yeah, we speak every day. Last game against Sheffield Wednesday we were not close, but today was better. I know for the future it can be better – now it’s really good but I know it can be even better. It’s a busy week but we will have good recovery so we are prepared for this.”

Though it is still early days, it does appear as though Rutter and Piroe are able to bring out the best in one another, particularly in matches away from home where there is space.

Rutter’s strengths as a number nine clearly lay in dropping a little deeper and facing up the defence, as shown in Leeds’ opener at Millwall.

Piroe, meanwhile, also enjoys dropping deep but is extremely strong at making late runs into the box to finish off the chances that Leeds’ array of attacking talent creates.
