Mateusz Bogusz completed a permanent move to MLS side LAFC from Leeds just three months ago and already, Bogusz is making a name for himself – watch, as he scored the second-fastest goal in the club’s short history.
The 21-year-old left Leeds after a difficult spell. He joined Leeds over four years ago in January 2019 from boyhood club Ruch Churzow, and went on to play three times for the senior side. Big things were expected of Bogusz.
But his loan spells ended any chance of impressing for Leeds. One goal in 24 for Logrones, followed by the first of two seasons on loan at Ibiza. He started superbly, scoring four goals and creating seven in 22 games in 2021-22.
But at the midway point, disaster. ACL injury. He returned to Leeds, before returning to Ibiza on loan again. It was not the same second time round, he could not recreate his initial 21-22 form. Ibiza were willing to cancel his loan.

Luckily for Bogusz, LAFC came calling. They arranged a deal to cancel his Ibiza loan, and sign him permanently from Leeds – until June 2026. A huge move. Bogusz is starting to impress in a new country, and now, breaking records.
Going into Thursday’s 1-0 win over Seattle Sounders – played in the early hours of this morning – Bogusz had had a hand in three goals in his 15 outings. Starting only nine times. He is still adapting, and growing into this LAFC side.
He started against Seattle on Thursday and picking up the ball in between the lines, he turned on a sixpence before firing a looping effort into the bottom corner. LAFC’s second-fastest goal in their short history, on 54 seconds.
The current MLS champions went on to win 1-0 against Seattle, with Leeds-linked midfielder Jose Cifuentes having an effort cancelled out. Carlos Vela, Denis Bouanga and Giorgio Chiellini also featured for LAFC on Thursday.
