Mateusz Klich continues to produce some stunning form in the MLS since leaving Leeds United for Wayne Rooney’s DC United – netting the third in a 3-0 win over LA Galaxy, celebrating by re-creating Rooney’s punch and knockout.
Rooney is back at DC after playing for the club during the latter stages of his career, now managing the club. He has built an impressive side that includes the like of Klich, Christian Benteke, and Nottingham Forest star Lewis O’Brien.
The 32-year-old is shining across the pond, starting all 14 of DC’s MLS fixtures. He has had a hand in five goals in midfield – scoring on his debut and then in his most-recent outing. He capitalised on a loose ball from close range.
It was an important goal in an excellent performance to beat LA Galaxy 3-0 on Sunday. Following his goal, Klich reminded all why he is not just a personality in terms of his style of football – with a brilliant celebration on pitch.
Of course, Rooney was in the headlines during his Manchester United days as a video emerges of him having a laugh with Phil Bardsley with boxing gloves on. Rooney was knocked out, and re-created it. Now, so has Klich.
Klich continues to shine since Leeds exit, recreates Rooney celebration
Klich has been on fire for DC and Rooney. He is absolutely first choice in DC’s midfield and his fitness is certainly coming in handy, with six games in the next four weeks. He is playing in different roles, scoring and creating goals.
The Poland star is certainly showing why he should have been included in his nation’s World Cup squad for Qatar, but he is also showing Jesse Marsch why he should have used him more. Right in Marsch’s own backyard, this term.
