Leeds United’s players are back for pre-season after undergoing testing at Leeds Beckett University on Monday – and Joe Gelhardt seems to have been putting in the work outside of Leeds training, as a video emerges on Twitter.
Gelhardt, 21, is back at Leeds after a spell at Sunderland during the second half of last season. The England U21 striker struggled with the Black Cats, scoring just three goals in 20 games. But Sunderland still made the play-offs.

Losing in the semi-finals, £1m Gelhardt is now back at Elland Road. Relegation might have actually suited the young striker, perhaps giving him a bit more of a chance to start. Rodrigo will go, and Patrick Bamford could easily follow.
Clearly, Gelhardt is gearing up for a big season at Leeds and is desperate to get himself as sharp as possible before the arrival of Daniel Farke this week. Evolution Sports Academy posted a video of Gelhardt scoring goal, after goal.

Something that some eagle-eyed viewers have noticed about Gelhardt, from what they have seen this summer, is that the striker looks leaner. He has been working throughout pre-season and it has clearly paid off, looking sharp.
He could be like a new signing this summer. Rodrigo is obviously, leaving the club. Bamford cannot be relied upon. Georginio Rutter looks set to remain, while Sonny Perkins and Mateo Joseph are still young and need time to adapt.
So, there is a chance for Gelhardt to really stake his claim in this Leeds side, having gained valuable experience out on loan last season in the Championship. But, the chances are, Leeds start with Bamford or Rutter on August 6.
