Charlie Cresswell has endured a difficult start to life back at Leeds United under Daniel Farke but with the player on England duty – he is seen greeting Gareth Southgate in new video on England’s YouTube.
Cresswell, 21, starred for Millwall on loan last season and has returned to Elland Road – signing a new contract. The hope will have been that he would break into the Leeds side on a regular basis this term.
But it has not gone that way. Cresswell has started just one Championship match – largely, due to the form of Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk. Liam Cooper has been picked ahead, making him fourth choice.
Despite his lack of game time, he has been included in Lee Carsley’s Under-21 squad for the October international break. The 21’s host Serbia, and then go to Ukraine – in European Championship qualifying.
In the latest video uploaded by England’s YouTube channel, Cresswell and a few other Under-21 stars are seen joining the senior side in the gym at St. George’s Park – and Cresswell greets Southgate (0.45).

Cresswell will be hoping to get some game time over the next fortnight, and perhaps has more chance of doing so than in a Leeds shirt. He was not first choice during the summer’s European Championships.
A player rated at £4m, Cresswell will have to consider his future if the rest of the season goes in the way it has done already. A decision to make at the end of the current term, maybe depending on promotion.
