Pre-season is underway for Leeds United’s non-international players this summer after the squad returned on Monday – and a video has emerged of Crysencio Summerville sitting Jamie Shackleton down before scoring in training.
The Leeds squad returned on Monday at Leeds Beckett University to undergo testing. They underwent muscular endurance exercises and the bleep test. No prizes for guessing who won it, Shackleton was the last-man standing.
The likes of Kalvin Phillips, Raphinha, Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Matuesz Klich are yet to return having been a part of their nation’s squads after the end of the season. But a solid quantity of players are back.

Robin Koch, Marc Roca, Patrick Bamford, Pascal Struijk and Jack Harrison are among those training. But it was Summerville that caught the eye on social media on Wednesday, as Leeds posted a video on their TikTok.
The video was reposted on Twitter by a Leeds fan . It shows Dutch winger Summerville lining up to shoot before cutting inside – leaving Shackleton to slide out of the way. He then neatly tucks past Darryl Ombang.

What does the 2022-23 campaign have in store for Summerville? A player linked with the exit door, after becoming frustrated with his game time under Marcelo Bielsa. He has a contract at Elland Road until 2023.
Fabrizio Romano recently reported that talks are underway to renew that deal. Nottingham Forest and AZ Alkmaar keeping tabs on the pocket-sized ace. But with Raphinha leaving, he might get more of a chance.
Indeed, if his form in training is anything to go by, Leeds will surely be handing more of a chance to Summerville next season. Jesse Marsch is certainly an admirer, naming Summerville as one of the 23’s to catch his eye.
