Junior Firpo has likened Leeds United man Georginio Rutter to PSG star Ousmane Dembele, when raving about the Elland Road favourite’s ability with both feet – as Rutter continues to shine.

Rutter, 21, has been on fire for Leeds this season. Creating chance after chance, and having a hand in eight goals for the Whites. Leeds sit third, winning six of the last seven, and Rutter has been pivotal.

The Frenchman could be out of action on Friday night though, having returned from international duty with an abdominal injury after being called-up by Thierry Henry for his country’s Under-21 side.

But, Rutter is crucial to Leeds and if we are to gain promotion, he will be a central figure in securing that. Firpo raved about Rutter’s ability with both feet on the official Leeds podcast, likening him to Dembele.

“The thing with him, he can use both feet. That ability makes him unplayable. He is good, another one that I see that in is [Ousmane] Dembele, you don’t know if he’s a lefty or a righty – Georgie has that too.”

Dembele is clearly a top player. Injury has hampered his progress but he is still one of the best wingers in world football, once costing Raphinha’s Barca a fee of £135.5m. Rutter has a way to go to get there.

But with both, there is a degree of raw talent. Flair, pace and skill. Rutter has that aura back, a presence of being the best player in the Championship. Continue in this way, and he could become a huge star.

On Friday, he is expected to be missing with Farke describing him a “major doubt”. It is more than likely that Patrick Bamford comes in for Rutter. The England man has not yet started this season, for Leeds.
