Leeds United pegged Cardiff City back to a 2-2 draw on Sunday as Crysencio Summerville equalised in the final few moments, while Archie Gray made his professional debut – and Tyler Adams was blown away by the teen’s display.
Gray, 17, was thrown into the middle of the park against Cardiff, coming up against the likes of Joe Ralls and Aaron Ramsey. But he was easily one of the best players on the pitch throughout, before being subbed off on 93 minutes.
Leeds went behind when Josh Bowler slid in an effort, before a ricochet saw Ike Ugbo make it 2-0. A brave header from Liam Cooper saw Leeds half the deficit but at a cost, Cooper taken off with an injury. Then, Summerville struck.
The Dutch ace lashed home an effort on 95 minutes to share the spoils. But it was Gray that stole the show, shining alongside signing Ethan Ampadu in central midfield. Judging by his outing, he will be like a new signing this term.
With Adams still out due to injury, it is crucial that Gray shines in his place. Darko Gyabi was an unused sub as Gray sparkled with and without the ball – and Adams posted a seven-word verdict “star in the making, congrats little bro.”

He was sensational. If Leeds are lacking in midfield, his performance will have been a brilliant sight for Farke – and it saves Leeds having to spend more time in the transfer market, worrying about bringing in another central midfielder.
Gray has shown that The 49ers can focus on bringing in a central defender, a left-back and a no.9 before the deadline. With Gyabi as cover, Jamie Shackleton and Lew Bate on the bench and Adams returning, we have enough.
