All eyes will be on the Leeds United’s social media come 11.30AM to see who Daniel Farke decides to start against Huddersfield Town – and perhaps, he should consider keeping Jaidon Anthony in the side.
It was fair to say that 23-year-old Anthony struggled on Wednesday night. His first touch seemed to elude him throughout. One bright spark, when he cut inside after a nutmeg and curled a shot wide.
Farke has a decision to make – does he stick with Anthony and allow him a run of games with Willy Gnonto not yet firing and Cree Summerville not 100% fit? Or, does he bring both of those back in.
Well, one thing he has got to consider is Anthony’s Championship experience and notably, his form against Huddersfield during his career. The £25k-a-week winger has played against Huddersfield twice.
Jaidon Anthony record against Huddersfield should be a factor
On both occasions, Anthony has secured wins over the Terriers. Both came in the 2021-22 season, in which Bournemouth gained promotion under Scott Parker. Two, very comprehensive, 3-0 victories.
In one of those, Anthony scored. Finishing coolly from a Dom Solanke assist, to open the scoring. He might not be the pick of the wingers right now, but Anthony has the experience – and the know how.
Not only is his record against Huddersfield impeccable, but he also knows how to play this division. Something Gnonto is yet to get right. If Farke is to get the best out of Anthony, he needs a run of games.
When better than to start the winger in a game against a side that he has a perfect record against, and has scored against them in a Championship fixture? A big decision to make for Farke later on today.
