Neil Redfearn has suggested that he loves watching Joel Piroe play after Leeds United beat Middlesbrough to extend their winning run at home this season.
Redfearn was speaking on BBC Radio Leeds (broadcast on 2/12; 17:04) after the Dutchman bagged his eighth goal of the season, finding back of the net from the penalty spot shortly before the interval.
Joel Piroe continues to justify the club’s decision to sign him in the summer. Piroe does have the ability to go quiet in games and almost be anonymous. But he more than makes up for that when chances fall to him inside the penalty area. Jermaine Beckford even suggested that Piroe produced a Dennis Bergkamp-like finish earlier this season.

Certainly, his partnership with Georginio Rutter is continuing to go from strength to strength.
And Neil Redfearn insisted that he had been hugely impressed by the summer signing’s display, noting that he looks perfectly suited to the system at Leeds.
“I like the look of the front two. You’re just willing Rutter to get a goal because his general play deserves it. He deserves to have them goals,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.
“I love watching Piroe play. He’s just got a touch of class about him. How he receives ball, really comfortable in possession. Really bright footballer. You can see how he fitted in at Swansea with that sort of football that they play. But he’s doing exactly the same under Farke.”

Piroe’s return of eight goals in 16 games is very respectable when you consider that we have potentially not yet seen the best of the forward.
No one in the Leeds squad has scored more. And you would imagine that Piroe is going to get plenty more over the rest of the season.
Patrick Bamford scored 16 times in the year we last got promoted. And he was actually the only one to make it into double figures during that campaign.
In Piroe and Crysencio Summerville, Leeds now have two players on eight goals. And we are still four games away from the halfway point in the season.
Certainly, Leeds will be delighted with the decision to sign Piroe in the summer.
