Tony Dorigo reacts as Andrea Radrizzani finally posts statement to Leeds supporters

Tony Dorigo has given his reaction to the statement published by Andrea Radrizzani on Wednesday in his column with the Yorkshire Evening Post – urging Radrizzani and the 49ers to come to a solution as quickly as possible.

With Radrizzani completing a deal to buy Sampdoria this week, it was expected that the purchase of the Italian club would see him relinquish control to the 49ers. But, Radrizzani’s statement hinted that he would be staying at Leeds.

What was intriguing, was that the statement was not posted on the official Leeds website – and it came from the company in which Radrizzani owns Leeds with, ASER. Nothing is official, nothing is sorted – but it was a big hint.

Ex-Leeds defender Dorigo was asked about his statement and gave an answer in quotes published on Thursday morning. He says that simply, the two parties have got to find a solution quickly to allow the club to plan quickly.

“There’s so much to do. There’s no doubt they have been looking at the various scenarios in the last few months. A lot of decisions I’m sure will have been made, just need to kind of press the button,” Dorigo told the Evening Post.

“I’m sure a lot of that is going on, but it’s very hard to give it the final okay until we know exactly what’s going on at the top. If you can get your work done earlier in the window and know what’s going on, you’re ahead of the game.

“On the player side, we can’t keep going financially with this set of players, those sort of wages so things have to change. So, the sooner the better. We need to learn all those lessons from what has happened,” Dorigo continued.

Radrizzani’s statement has simply caused more frustration among fans. Suggesting he is set to remain at Leeds as owner has annoyed fans. The supporters felt his purchase of Sampdoria would see the end of the Radrizzani era.

It could still be the case. Radrizzani has a massive job on his hands at Sampdoria. They, like Leeds, have gone down. They require a rebuild, and are financially in a worse position than us. So, does Radrizzani have the time for Leeds?

Maybe, it means he will keep a stake in Leeds – but sell a further percentage to the 49ers. It would mean he stays involved, but the 49ers take full control and become the new face of the club. Who knows what is going to happen.
