With three new signings coming in to the club, there was always going to be outgoings at Leeds – and now it seems, the club are close to confirming the departure of three players on a permanent basis:
Ryan Edmondson – Carlisle
He was supposed to be the gem of the Leeds academy, and was, until Marcelo Bielsa took over. By the time the Argentine was in control, Edmondson had made his senior debut and played in the trip to Myanmar.
But under Bielsa, he failed to add to his one senior outing. He has since been on loan to Port Vale, Aberdeen, Northampton and Fleetwood. Now, Graham Smyth reported he was close to being made a free agent.
Now, the striker has completed a free transfer to Carlisle with a sell-on clause included. Leeds confirmed the news on Thursday morning, just after LeedsUnited.News published the story.
Elia Caprile – Bari
Caprile, 20, was one of the stars of the show as Leeds United’s Under-23 side won the second tier of Premier Leagur 2 in 2020-21. He has since gone on loan to Serie C side Pro Patria, clocking up 13 clean sheets in 39 games.
Now, he has returned to Leeds – but a move is likely. Respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio says he is ‘very close’ to penning a three-year deal at Serie C champions Bari, who will be in Serie B next season.

Kalvin Phillips – Manchester City
Perhaps slightly more expected, but also one that is likely to take more time to come to fruition than the others. Phillips looks as though he is about to join the Premier League champions – even after Tony Dorigo’s letter.
Reports emerged on Wednesday, quoting an agent – who said he had ‘heard’ from those inside the deal a move is now “close”. Phillips looks close to confirming his departure from Leeds, potentially one of three players this week.
