Leeds United suffered a dismal 1-0 defeat to Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium on Wednesday night, but according to WhoScored’s statsPascal Struijk continued his brilliant Leeds form, despite the own goal.

Struijk, 24, has played every single minute for Leeds this season in the Championship – and has featured in all 15 games in all competitions. The Dutchman has even captained us in the last three league games.

He continues to keep club captain Liam Cooper out of the side. His form has been superb, arguably our most-consistent player all season. No fuss, comfortable on the ball. He is enjoying his best Leeds form.

On Wednesday night, it was dismal. Archie Gray, Ilia Gruev, Jaidon Anthony, Willy Gnonto and Joel Piroe were all below par – and then of course, Patrick Bamford missed his big chance, blazing a penalty over.

Five minutes later and a Wesley header cannons off the cross bar, hits Struijk and goes in. Nothing he can do. But the stats show that Struijk continued his brilliant form, WhoScored giving him a 7.01 rating.

Pascal Struijk continued his brilliant form according to the stats

WhoScored say he made five tackles, more than any other teammate. The whole team managed 15. That in itself is impressive. Second in terms of interceptions with three, behind left-back Sam Byram.

Joint-first with Illan Meslier in clearances, another three of those. A block and 46 of 58 passes, he completed. Only two managed a rating north of 7, with Struijk getting 7.01. Georginio Rutter got 7.44.

So, while it was a really disappointing night for us Leeds fans, it must be remembered that we are not going to win every game – and focus must immediately switch to Saturday, as we host Huddersfield.
