Brenden Aaronson is a regular for the United States and a constant part of the side, even impressing in the early games under Mauricio Pochettino – but now, the Leeds United star has been axed.
The 24-year-old playmaker has been ever-present for Leeds United this season, starting 34 Championship games in a row. But his form has dipped since the turn of the year, managing just one goal in 12 games.
Indeed, Aaronson has failed to lay on any assists in that stretch of games, too. He could be replaced on Wednesday night when Leeds host Millwall at Elland Road in a crucial game, after Sheffield United drew.
Aaronson would likely have been preparing to travel to The States during the March break, but Mauricio Pochettino has not included the £25m Leeds player largely because of his lack of form in a Leeds shirt.

What Mauricio Pochettino has said after dropping Aaronson
It may come as a surprise to United States fans but to Leeds supporters, it will have been little shock. The playmaker has struggled in a Leeds shirt for large periods of 24-25, only starting due to a lack of cover.
Speaking in a press conference after picking a squad to face Thomas Christiansen’s Panama for a place in next Monday’s Nations League final, Pochettino commented on the upcoming potential of silverware.
“Brenden, we decided to bring another player in his place. We have players like Gio Reyna and then [Christian] Pulisic, Weston McKennie, Diego Luna. [There are] too many players for only one position.”
Leeds United boost as Brenden Aaronson rest comes at ideal time
Leeds fans want Aaronson to be taken out of the firing line. It is clear he needs a rest, coming off earlier in recent matches and on the 68th minute on Sunday during the 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth away from home.
The player needs a rest after 34 consecutive Championship starts but actually, the rest may now come in the form of not representing his country during the March break and allows Daniel Farke to start him.
Farke has often been loyal with his team selections and while Aaronson is out of form and Leeds do need an improvement from him, the chances of removing him is unlikely – so, his omission is good for Leeds.
