Daniel Farke was handed a disjointed squad when he took over at Leeds United, half of which were desperate to leave. Players keen to go. He moulded it into a side capable of fighting for promotion.
But it’s only a temporary fix. Some super signings – Ethan Ampadu, Glen Kamara, Joel Piroe. Joe Rodon is another, but he is only on loan. There are still 11 players on the books at Leeds, currently out on loan.
Not only are 11 players still on the books but away from the club, but six players are due to see their contracts expire at the end of the season. This squad is set for major surgery at the end of the season.
Phil Hay does not expect Stuart Dallas, Luke Ayling and Liam Cooper to get new deals at the end of the season. Ian Poveda, Sam Byram and Jamie Shackleton will also see their deals come to an end in June.

The 49ers preparing to overhaul Leeds United squad in summer
Decisions need to be made. But The Mail claim that The 49ers are on it, and they are more than aware that this squad needs change. It is claimed in a new piece, that The 49ers are planning on an overhaul.
But, the ‘squad overhaul’ will only take place when Leeds gain promotion back to the Premier League. Obviously, ‘major investment’ in the playing squad would be required if Leeds do return to the top tier.
The truth is, this Leeds side needs change now and it change will happen next summer. The level, and the quality of that change will depend on which division Daniel Farke takes Leeds into, next season.
